![]() THey'll almost never stick to a siege unless you sit and don't move until they're finished. Your allies are the easiest way to see how broken the AI's goals are. ![]() But most importantly the AI can't handle these wars either. Part of it is that there's simply so many baronies on the map that the AI has a significantly easier time slipping away and it's significantly easier as a player to misclick the right barony and miss. Is this good gameplay? It feels way too much like luck, grinding, and chasing compared to other similar war systems in other paradox games. If you're fighting enough enemies, especially in multiple faction wars you may literally be unable to unsiege faster than 10-20 small stacks can siege. Many wars are essentially siege races because the AI troops will run and hide to lead the player on a goose chase but as soon as you start sieging something new they'll run to unsiege which they can often be faster at since the recently sieged provinces are easier to siege. The AI LOVES neutral territory as a way to run away and stall out your wars. Then there's the issue of being able to run across the entire map and lose 0 troops so long as it's in 'neutral' territory. With the ease of water transport this is also a reason never to put your capital near the ocean. Since there's no warning this is a mega noob trap. On the other hand if your character isn't leading your troops and you look away from your capital too long a small ai troops snack can easily siege it down and make you 100% lose. A sufficiently advanced player can even just check where the enemy location is to make sure this'll work. Not even the AI is effective at it.įirst off we have the cheese of just knowing as a player that sieging the capital of enemies that can't lead troops is nearly a guaranteed 100% win. The biggest issue is warfare and how unfun and weird it is. I'm not even going to get into the faction change in Azure which implodes every major AI nation since I think everyone can see that.
